When choosing a good place on a fair map comes a lot of strategy. If you already have the choice of multiple options. Often it is in organizations so that you have to participate for a number of years, you want to be able to give preference positions. But assuming you can indicate a preference, below you may be able to help in making that choice.

In a next blog I will go into the different types of stands: Head, Corner, Island and Row stand. What is important to see on the map is where the entrance is and whether there are passageways to other halls. Many broader main paths are often indicated. This way you have a good picture of all the entrances and exits in the hallway.

Right or left oriented target group

This part is essential and is often overlooked. Because we are human habit animals, you can generally say that people who are right-oriented (and therefore driving right from the road) are accustomed to going right after entering an entrance. And left-oriented people right the other way around (hand on the road). It is therefore not for nothing that in 90% of supermarkets in Europe the entrance on the right is left the cash registers to pay. So if you know where most of your target group are moving, you can take advantage of this. And when you go to the bathroom in Europe, the left is often the most clean 🙂

Facility on the map

Facilities are often indicated on the map, such as: Innovation Room, demo squares, Horeca and toilets. These factors can affect the choice of the booth. These facilities are often crowded places and can therefore generate additional visitors. Important when you get to these features is that you can use the aisle optimally. You have to address the visitors right there with open questions. In General, exhibitors should take much more active conversations with visitors. Eventually they come to the fair to be informed.

Where is the competition?

Where the direct competition is can be important for your choice. The question is: do we want to be close to them or not. I myself think you should go out of your own strength and it is very powerful to be located near the competitor. Strategically you can take this into account in your stand design. Where do you place certain products or services. And where possible an office for meetings or the entrance to the booth space. Entirely dependent on the chosen place in the hall and the target for the fair participation.

I wish you a lot of success and pleasure!
